About
Kevin Ildefonso is a tuba player and music educator based in Miami, FL. He is in an active freelancer and currently holds the principal tuba position with the Florida Grand Opera and the Palm Beach Symphony. He has also performed with the Sarasota Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, New World Symphony, and the Miami City Ballet, among other ensembles. Kevin has performed and has recorded with popular artists including Kenny Loggins, Pharrell Williams, Gordon Goodwin, Placido Domingo, Take 6, Joseph Alessi, and Natalie Merchant.
As an educator, Kevin has presented masterclasses, clinics, and teaches private lessons from middle school through to the collegiate level. He has also given solo recitals as well as chamber recitals and has participated in educational outreach performances.
Kevin has arranged several popular themes for tuba/euphonium ensemble and is currently working on original compositions that will be compiled into an etude book for low brass instruments of diverse musical styles including jazz, salsa, and more! These exciting etudes will be broken into two levels; Apprentice, intended for high school to early college level and Legendary, intended for graduate students to the professional level. The first etude, in the style of the popular Bordogni/ Rochut melodious etudes, is currently available for both levels in the ‘shop’ tab at the top of the page
Kevin holds a Masters Degree in instrumental performance from the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA and a Bachelors Degree in instrumental performance from the University of Miami. He is currently completing his DMA degree at the University of Miami.
